Rudyard, Staffordshire


Rudyard is a beautiful village and a lovely tourist destination. It has some lovely pubs and hotels to enjoy your stay.



Rudyard Lake is a massive stretch of water which was originally designed as a feeder to the cauldon canal. Popular with the Victorians as a resort, accessed by train. Today it still is a popular destination, where you can just enjoy the lake by walking or cycling around or taking a trip on the steam train. Many people come to fish or sail or just to watch the abundance of wildlife. There is a new activity centre and Information centre has recently opened.



Rudyard Lake Steam Railway is a Victorian narrow gauge railway which runs regulary, it is one of the best ways to see the lake. The steam engines are named after famous historical characters Excalibur, Merlin, King Arthur, Pendragon and Waverley. It is a 3 mile round trip.
